We snorkelled off Candidasa at Blue Lagoon (by boat), in Tulamben off shore there is a ship wreck, and Ahmed (Coral Gardens - shipwreck (off shore which means you just walk in and swim off the shore). They were all good.
But the most fantastic is off Menganan Island which is an hour boat ride on the coolest wooden boat from a bit further from the town of Pemuteran which is in the north and takes about 3-4 hours to get to from Ubud or even Sanur. So you want to spend 1 -2 nights up there in the area so you can do it all..can't be done in one day as you want to snorkel in the morning or it gets too rough in the afternoon, cloudy or currents.
We were recommended to stay at Aneka Bagus in Pemuteran...there are 3 hotels in a row and all seem good and a little different. They are on the water.
We stayed someplace completely different which I will write about soon on the JBR once I get it together...but is about 50 minutes from the boat...east of Pemuteran 2km west of Serririt. (Between Pemuteran and Lovina). It is called Zen Lifestyle....it was so great...and was the highlight of our trip..the care you get there, the pool, the view, the food was incredible!!!!! It has 7 rooms...all were full...they have a big yoga studio and spa stuff...we didn't do the yoga..just relaxed there..have piped in music to the rooms and outdoor eating...its so cool...good music..cost is $74 US a night with breakfast and taxes. For $25 a person they take you to the boat and get you snorkel equipment and includes the boat trip and back. Worth it...
So if you want to do that you have to stay 2 nights away from Ubud or Sanur.
