Can't help you much with the PDA as I'm too old to know about them but I have heard that there are guitars on the top floor of the Supernova department store in Kuta. If you get to know a driver around your hotel he will probably be able to tell you of more places.
Mobile phones are really not a lot cheaper in Bali and I think you'll have to buy a new card to make them work back home. Be aware that if you have trouble with it you might be a bit stuck getting anyone to do something to it under the warranty back in Oz.
