My first trip to Bali and oversees was in 98 and we stayed at the Kartika and back then the hawkers were in your face everywhere. After awhile you got use to it. We went for a walk along the beach one afternoon and a lady hawker asked "nails painted" no I bite them, "hair plaited" no hair too short and with that she said to me, "get stuffed". We have stayed at Tanjung Benoa for the last four trips and the hawkers there are great and I have made friends with some of them. Looks like we may be staying at Kartika again this trip.
