any of the "expensive" restaurants in Bali [unless you include La Lucciola years ago when it wasn't expensive] and I don't feel as if I've missed out on anything. I'm certainly not shy and I very much like "being noticed", provided I'm doing something interesting, worthwhile or entertaining, but I'm not interested in "being seen" paying far more than I consider reasonable for food and drinks and probably wearing far more than is logical for the climate/activity.
If I have a spare $100 or so, I'm happy giving this to a good cause. This makes me feel good [I know this shouldn't be part of the reason, but human nature being what it is-----] and the good feeling remains long after the expenditure is forgotten. But if I paid an exorbitant price just for food and drinks, no dancing, no entertainment, no fund raising for a good cause, well maybe it would take me a while to get over it!
This isn't a criticism of those who enjoy this kind of "dining experience", nor is it a criticism of Kadek and others who profit from it. Just a personal perspective.
