The beach at Sanur is fine for swimming in as much as it is very calm from being protected by the reef. Some parts of the beach are great, such as in front of the Hyatt, at at different intervals, you'll find a lot of fishing boats. Its also tidal, so there can be a fare walk out to swimming depth at different times. The reef is interesting for diving, but depending on the swell, there could be alot of waves. Kuta/ Legian is a better surf beach, about 20 minutes away by blue cab.
