What tourists refer to as a Sarong, a length of material about 2m long, is referred to in Indonesian as "Kain" meaning material; this is wrapped around and clever ladies use a bit of craft, in an effort to not be caught in a compromising situation, like in a windy place; safety pins are not unknown but cleverly hidden as it is better that the lady's assets are seen to support the material, in an attractive fashion.

"Sarung", with a "u" is really a onepiece Batik sheath, into which a lady has to wiggle from bottom to top, until it all fits nicely, self supported by the available curves. A Sarung Bantal, for instance, is a Pillow Slip and Sarung is used for many things where "sheath" is what is intended. Maybe this word could be used at the Apotik, when shopping for bedtime necessities: I myself wouldn't know as I'm Catholic, you know!

Ya gorra larf!
