Goodness, that tour organiser must think he's died and gone to heaven at that price. $US30 per person equals close to 2 million rupiah. If you organise your own driver, you pay for the whole day, not per person. If you find your own driver after you get to your hotel, you can negotiate a daily rate for a fraction of that, regardless of how many people.
With 7 people however, you may need to hire 2 vehicles, as their tour licences and insurance only cover a certain number of people in the vehicle at a given time.
