Hi:
See my previous post about Intercontinental Hotel. We loved it. Sitting under the beach umbrella (or thatched roof actually) it was a perfect place to do NOTHING..but sit. It is however not convenient for shopping. Other than a small shop across the road with limited items you basically have to head out to a different area. THey had some local folks selling limited items right there after the evening barbecue some nights.. Shop before you end up here. Beach, sea? Waves can be strong.. We mostly swam in pool. There are always a few people trying to boogie board? or body surf but the waves aren't so strong for that. My husband said in actual surf season? when ever that might be..he could imagine the waves could be good because there was definitely some strength to them. I, however, get sunburned in 15 mintutes..so have to hide anyway. Intercontinental is a great place to relax. Not a good location for going over to Seminyak for dinner..possible but it seemed a bit far..and I think that we were there on the holiday week which made traffic pretty crazy. Might be easier now.
Ask someone else about Legian..we spent no time there. but KUTA WAS CRAZY a week ago.. that too might not be the case now. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing experience..not a party place to drink. So it depends completely on what you are looking for... If you want to be in the middle of the action..Jimbaran isn't it.. Although the seafood beach restaurants are so close you can eat there and even run back to use the (clean) hotel toilets!
