fares don't just increase without notice. Usually any specials have to be paid in full and ticketed by a certain date, if that date is missed you have to pay the applicable fare for the date that ticketing occurs. Did your agent or yourself miss the payment deadline? The specials have to be booked in a particular sub class of economy (for instance the new Adelaide and Perth Air Paradise expo specials have to be booked in M class when the normal class is B, doesn't affect where you sit just how much you pay and when you pay), did the agent book the wrong class? Taxes and fuel surcharges are subject to change but once the ticket is issued that's it, no more increase. If the price were to increase or the payment deadline changed your agent should notify you so you can pay in time to avoid any increase. Sounds like someone stuffed up, maybe your agent misquoted or missed a ticketing dealine. If you paid in time and the agent forgot to ticket in time then it's their fault. If you paid late and were advised the correct payment date then it's your fault.
