Hiya,

I haven't been to Lembongan so can't comment on that (heard like you that it was pretty quiet so haven't ventured there yet), but was in Gili T in August, and the snorkelling was really amnazing. The current off the main beach there was meduim, i would say, but you don't have to go out deep to see beautiful fish, so really it isn't a problem. Didn't notice any coral bleaching myself. There was some dead coral around, but really, we were too busy looking at the tropical fish to notice! There are loads of places to snorkel too as there are lots of boats offering snorkelling trips around the three Gili islands.

I have heard that the Bounty does not make reliable trips to the Gilis anymore from Bali (kind of a case of when enough people have turned up, it goes). We flew - i think if the members of your party can face it (it is fine, nothing to worry about at all), it is much quicker, and more convenient. It is cheap too. Just book in Bali when you get there.

I would definitely advise you to to to Gili T, it really was the highlight of our last trip to Bali. It was well worth the effort - so relaxed, but with lots to do. And so beautiful. The resturants was great - just casual places (but lots of), with fabulous seafood (freshest of the fresh). Loads of great places to laze around in the evening drinking cocktails (all literally right on the beach). Alot of the bars have these platforms with massive cushions where you can just lie or sit and take everything in. Most of the accom is basic backpacker style, but there are a couple of more upmarket options if you prefer.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me. Have a great time, whatever you decide to do.

Camille x
