The world health org, has been warning for some years about the large tourist areas as Kuta, Sanur Jimbaran and Nusa Dua, and the practice of the Hotels of pumping sewerage into the ocean of the beaches in the hope the tide will take it out. I would assume the same would happen at Legian
The water quality in those areas has been poor for some time, and you wouldn't catch me swimming in them, with full aqualung gear.

I remember once at Sanur which has very little beach they got a real high tide, and the sewerage came up through the sand,... some of the bungalow complexes run the sewerage through the sand to filter it,.... or as I was told process it
