We went to Kuta Carnival on the final night and it was so packed you could hardly walk. The Bali moon stall had these huge bowls of cocktails you could buy for just 20,000.They were lovely. Hubby kept buying me more and more i think he was hoping he'd get lucky he he. There was heaps of security everywhere. They had a big stage set up on the beach and performers, models singers it was great. At 11.00pm they were supposed to be having fire works. We waited and waited at 12.30 we left don't know what happened to the fire works but by now there were huge fireworks going off in my head. Boom all of a sudden those bloody cocktails hit me as i stood up. The thing about bali cocktails is that you don't taste or feel the alcohol as much. Then pow it hits you all of a sudden.
A couple of experiences that cracked us up was when my mum wanted to hold a monkey. She bought it a little bag of peanuts and he was cuddling her then all of a sudden he jumped on her head, held tightly onto her hair with his hands and feet and began peeing all down her. It was so funny she couldn't get him off her head.He just stayed there peeing for like 3 minutes. She was so embaressed. A crowd formed to watch this lady getting peed on by a monkey as it's owner was trying to get it off and my mum was screaming. Once it jumped off 15minutes later We had too walk all the way home and she smelt so bad.
Warning the next story may make you throw..
The next day as we were swimming in the pool a rat or should i say possum it was that bloody huge jumped in the pool. It swam under water for about 15 meters it was unbelievable. All the girls screamed ahhhh. So these two guys tried to get it out with my hubbys hat. Each time they got it out it would jump bak in. We couldn't believe it could swim, but then after a few more tries it drowned.......My mum an animal nut who loves creatures of all size, colour and type swam quickly over to the other side of the pool. Using her hand as a funnel so her mouth didn't touch it she gave it mouth to mouth and everyone was flinching how yuk it was they said its dead don't worry. She sat there and did compressions on this bloody drowned rat and air for like 10 mins. Everyone was looking and laughing... Then you wouldn't bloody believe it, it started breathing!!!! After an hour or two it had regained its strenghth and ran off.
Mum left a few days before the Anniversary of the bombing. She tried to extend her ticket but had already been there a month and was told she had to get a new Visa etc so she didn't bother. She was really worried something would happen and asked me to promise not to go near memorial on that day. Well i didn't promise but hubby did. So on that day i wanted to go up legian street but he wouldn't. So because i know bali well and he didn't i took him for a walk down Melasti and then up that laneway that takes you all the way to poppies. Hehe naughty i know but i really wanted to see it. Before he knew it we were at the memorial and and had to keep walking cause the crowds were huge. They had light up all of Jln legian as far as you could see with candles. It was very moving and beautiful i'm glad i went and hubby was glad he experienced it too. We paid our respects and walked home. The security was so tight. Road blocks at both ends of Jln Legian with a dozen cops and then every gang/lane had a couple there too. I never felt un safe at all.
