I would agree SOME of the deluxe rooms are very nice, but the hotel and it's agents do mislead with promotion and the number of rooms they claim are deluxe,... some claim 3 deluxe rooms others 5 deluxe. and they ALL have major privacy issues if you're above or below another deluxe room being occupied or next to one.
The deluxe rooms ground level facing the river (14 &15)? very large bathrooms with sandstone retaining walls,....during the rainy season these wall leak big time and flood,.... the bathrooms are in part open and the echo of all that goes on including conversation can be heard in the kokokan suite above and vise versa.,...as the area above the bathrooms is open with only a carved wooden screen dividing the open area and the rooms above.
The promotion photos on some web sites shows what is claimed as a deluxe room (when in fact's the Kokokan suite) at one rate and the same room at a different angle as the Kokokan suite at a much higher rate,... they have only one Kokokan suite (16)? which's above two deluxe suites.,......now if you're lucky enough to actually book and get one of these rooms and you don't have anybody occupying above or below you,.. and if it doesn't rain heavy if staying in the ground floor rooms,.... your accommodation could be OK.
They also change the category of the rooms on the third level of the adjoining building,... these two rooms are accessed by a concrete ramp from the upper garden path,.... are sometimes called deluxe rooms do have large terraces with double 4 poster day beds, but no privacy in the first one as access to the other is through your terrace (hardly private or romantic),.... also the dividing wall between the two rooms is that thin you can hear every single sound from next door,....
I would agree the hotels grounds are very good, but so are many in that area,.... the restaurant had in my opinion poor quality Thai food,....the staff problems are related to things going missing from the rooms,...and the terraces,.....
I would also agree with your:but think their are better hotel buys to be had.
