I got bitten many times on my legs by Sand Flies, but the good news for anyone reading this is that it wasn't in Bali, I was in Miri in Sarawak at the time, which was 7 years ago, I never felt a thing until about an hour later when the bites just got itchier and itchier and itchier, I tried everything on them but nothing helped much. The next day the bites had turned to blisters, about the same size as a finger nail. And they continued to itch like crazy. It was about 2 weeks before most of them cleared up, but unfortunately I couldn't leave some of the bites alone and they have scarred, the marks are still on my legs now. I don't ever want to suffer these bites again and so I wear a DEET spray whenever I feel that any biters may be around. I am coming to Bali next month for the first time, I hope I don't meet the sandflies again.
