just be aware that sometimes Tulamben can be a bit scary. We went there from Amed for the day - one to do scuba diving at the wreck, one to do snorkelling. We both got into trouble in the heavy waves that we had to get through, and ended up being pulled out of the sea by local Balinese. The beach is quite rocky and stony and isn't pleasant to be banged up against. The people that did the scuba dive really enjoyed it, but one of them (big guy, very experienced scuba diver) also got into difficulties in the waves on the way out. Had a comment from someone that snorkelling was abysmal because it was too murky to see anything at all. I guess it all depends on the conditions, just be aware that Tulamben isn't always idyllic.
