Stayed at the Maya in April this year for our honeymoon and used the spa a number of times.
As mentioned by Ezz they have a great pool and restaurant which is part of the spa complex which can be used by the spa guests (if you are staying outside the hotel).
It's a personal choice, but I enjoyed having a treatment at the spa mid morning then having lunch at the cafe, followed by sitting around the pool for the afternoon. They have great little day beds tucked under the cafe for lying and reading by the pool.
When we were there in April we had a couple of days where no one ventured down to the spa pool so we had the pool/cafe to ourselves. Nothing but the sound of running water in the river below.
Can't recommend the resort and spa highly enough.
