My 15 yr old daughter & I have been back from Bali for just on a month now, and have finally got over the Bali Blues.
This was my 2nd trip this year, having had 3 weeks there in June/July, after which I wrote many JBR's, so will only do a few updates this time.

KUTA LAGOON RESORT:- The Good & The Bad.

This was the 1st time that I had stayed here, and I found the location ideal because of the proximity to my favourite shopping/ eating areas. One of the best aspects, was being able to offload my shopping every so often, and then head out again, without losing too much time.

The hotel didn't appear to be that full and the atmosphere was fairly subdued. There were a variety of guests from young couples/mates, older groups of women & family groups. The staff seemed pleasant & cheerful but we did not get to know any of them well in the short time we were there. Being down a long driveway from Legian Road, there was no traffic noise either, so that's a bonus point.

We had a free upgrade to a pool view room, which overlooked the "Kuta" end of the pool. Being adjacent to the far stairwell & wall, meant that the room wasn't overly light, but as we didn't spend much time in it, it didn't really matter. At least where we were was quite private as I noticed that some of the upstairs balconies could be looked into from the 2nd floor restaurant. The room lighting was rather poor with only a couple of lamps, and it was hard to read at night. The mattress was quite comfortable, the linen seemed clean, although not changed every day, and we had no problems with the towels or availability of pool towels.

The bathroom was very small however, and the toilet seat loose, and I found the lack of a drying rack on the balcony a bit of a nuisance. There is a string line in the shower though. There was also a lack of power points, which made it tricky to boil a jug, use a hairdryer and recharge one's phone at the same time. The airconditioning was efficient, but I thought it was strange that the in-room safe was not bolted to the floor, and was able to be easily removed.Maybe it was just our room that was like that.

The buffet breakfast which was included in the package, was adequate with freshly cooked eggs, fruit, some sort of bacon, ham or sausage every day, rice and noodle varieties plus danish pastries, juice & toast. Not a huge selection but fine for the price. Breakfast was the only meal that we had there, so unable to comment further on the menu/food.

The poolside area was fairly limited in size and lost the sun mid-late afternoon, and I did find being so close to the room balconies a bit offputting when guests were sitting out on them (wouldn't be so bad if I had a great figure!).However, we seemed to somehow get a "sea breeze" most days which surprised me as the hotel wasn't on the beach, and it was noticeably not as hot as the pool area was at the Dynasty Hotel where we visited friends on several occasions.

Would I stay there again? Yes, as a "value for money" hotel. But I would get a quote for a pool access room, which many have already recommended on this Forum as being the way to go.
