as you say could be chinese whispers, but I am sure it's not necessary to post rumours on a public forum. The saying "if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all" really should apply in these circumstances.
"Like if it were me, I know my parents would be hysterical & with me ASAP, seems a bit odd really!" what seems odd to some may not to others, and we should never make assumptions and/or judge until we know the "true" story.
