Easy enough to misunderstand Tabanan for Tenganan. Tabanan is a large town located on Bali west coast, Tenganan is the Bali Aga village on the east coast. This is the village you would want to visit. It is few kilometers west of Candi Dasa, and you cann't miss it.
There are several Aga villages left in Bali, but in Tenganan, the old culture is surely the most obvious, but slowly their rituals and old language disappearing. The other famous Aga village is Trunyan,, on the shore of Lake Batur. However, in this villge, contrary to Tengana, visitors are not welcome, except to see the cemetery next to it (by the way, the tree under which bodies are layed to rest, is a Taru menyan tree, which smell of incense, not a banyan tree).
Other Bali Aga villages. There is a string of Bali Aga villages between Candi Dasa and Karangasem (Amlapura): Asak, Bungaya, Bugbug, etc. Also Taro, right at the center of Bali (where the Elephant Park is located), and Panglipuran, NW of Bangli.
