About 2 weeks b4 you go.
If you are booking through an agent they should have your booking by then.
If doing it on your own then anytime is ok but closer is better.
Usually hotels don't allocate rooms until a couple of days b4 anyway but if they have have your request they will keep it in mind.
My agent contacts them about 2 weeks b4 to put in our request.
