The legal duty free limit is one litre per adult.

It has been mentioned that the local product is cheaper than duty free, and that is true for locally made vodka, whiskey and gin, as well as arak, which you should try.

However, if you're planning to have a cocktail party and need bottles of Bailey or Midori or cointreau, then organise your group so that one person buys a duty-free bottle each. Indonesia has 155% import tax on alcohol, so anything other than generic local stuff is exhorbitantly priced. A 750ml bottle of Baileys would cost close to 400,000rp (about AU$60 -- compared to duty-free 1litre bottle for about $25), for example. Whereas the same sized bottle of local vodka would cost around 60-70,000. (I'm using Jakarta prices, so they might not be totally accurate).

Don't buy duty-free cigarettes. They are cheaper on the streets of Bali.

As for the quality of the boardshorts, check the label on the ones you already own. There's a fair chance they were made in Indonesia. Some of the shorts they sell in Bali might have been damaged when they fell of the back of the truck, but otherwise the quality will be the same as half the clothes that are sold in Australia.
