I stayed for 5 nights in seminyak out of 6 weeks this year. It was different to Kuta, alot quieter and more up market. You will not get hasselled on the street as much,hardly at all actually.
If you dont like it due to the fact that its quieter you can easily catch a taxi to Kuta at such a small cost.
I prefer it around benasari Lane and poppies most of the time, but when I was in Seminyak I was with a partner so it was nice to be away from all the hussell and bussell.
Really it depends what you are after. I did find that seminyak was a lot more expensive than the Kuta/Legian area.
