Hi, have purchased some beautiful paintings in Bali, from trational to abstract. the last couple of trips a friend took me to a gallery in Gianyar. I am sorry but at the moment I cant put my hands on their business card or my credit card receipt to tell you the name. The gallery is stunning and has a huge range of different styles of art, contemporary to traditional. I went to the Sukawati art market and was a little disappointed with the quality of the art for sale, but there are hundreds to choose from.

The ones I have purchased have ranged from 400,000rp for a buddahs face 5 foot x 3ft done in oils and is textured from a shop in Seminyak, to 2million for an abstract oil painting - also 5 foot by 3ft which was from the gallery, along with a scene from the Ramayana 1mtr square which was about 700,000rp if my memory serves me correctly. If i can find their business card I will post again marking it to your attention.

It is definitely worthwhile looking in smaller shops as well as galleries, some of the artwork is absolutely stunning. Regardless of the cost just remember, you cannot purchase original artwork in Australia for anywhere near the prices you can in Bali. If your budget can stretch a little then purchase something stunning that you fall in love with, you wont regret it. Cheers
