we usually secrete passports, cash and tickets in our Samsonite or Delsey suitcases, lock them, and leave them in the room. The keys are kept in another locked bag, and we carry the key of this second bag with us, or simply hide it in the room. One thing we have learned is that staff will NOT touch personal items in the room when it is cleaned, so the hidden key is pretty safe really! Works well for us.
