My wife and I are currently planning a trip throughout some of the larger islands in Indonesia, but we really will only have 6 weeks to spare. Will 6 weeks be long enough to:
- start in Medan, Sumatra
- spend a bit of time in sumatra
- travel to Java and spend a bit of time there (yogya not in plan)
- travel to Sulawesi and cruise around there for a while (the place I want to visit most)
- travel to Lombok and spend a little bit of time at the Gilies...
- spend a bit of time in Sumbawa (is there much to do here?)
- spend a bit of time in Flores (Komodo included here)
- finish in Bali for a few days of respite.
I guess my biggest fear is that in order to visit most of the cool places, we'll have to speed through most of the countryside to meet our timetable.
So, is it possible to achieve in 6 weeks? If not, how long should be allowed, given that we have other commitments outside of gallivanting around the countryside. Or, should we ditch one of the islands such as Flores?
Opinions welcome!
