Just a couple of overnighters in Medan, and I barely got to see much of the place.

I might hit you up for some tips when I get around to planning a trip there. Or, more likely, I'll do what I normally do and just wander around asking people stupid questions until I get lost and see things I'd have hated to miss. I highly recommend this method.

I don't think there's any doubt that 99% of Indonesians love foreigners. If our politicians could learn to keep their goddamned mouths shut and their wars to themselves, I'm pretty sure the other 1% would come around too.

Oh oh oh oh... when you go to Jakarta, you have to ride a train on the roof. Don't worry... everyone else will tell you when to duck. Or at least just ride a train (if you can fit in), coz you'll see all the shanties along the tracks, with the skyscrapers in the background, and you'll never forget it.

There's also a huge mosque and a catholic church across the road from each other. Both beautiful buildings, but watch out for "guides". It's better to leave a donation inside the buildings.

Oh, man... now I feel "homesick" for Indonesia. Thank God I'll be there again in a few weeks... but all too briefly.
