would really prefer that we didn't nominate them too openly on the Forum, cause as well as promoting them to possible buyers, it also tells Authorities who/where they are, and then it is simply a matter of 'calling in' and an official person can easily arrange collection of the regular monthly donation. Lets not fool our selves with this.. some DVD shops "donate" as much as 30 to 50 million a month. Did you know that the DVD sales figures: allowing for all and sundry costs, indicate that the owner keeps about 1,000 rp per DVD as profit?? Imagine if even part of these "donations" was to be used as extra wages for staff!! Plus, if there were NO DONATIONS, the owner could get about 5,000 profit, the staff could get an extra 500,000 each per month.. and the standard of living and the local economy would increase dramatically within a week!! Can't have that but can we! Must bleed wherever possible! Friends, we mostly all of us love Bali, but this part of Bali really sucks! It must be cleaned up, or the economy will eventually fail the Balinese worker. Tourists already know there are other destinations where shopping is a safe past time! In these places, the traveller does NOT have to constantly guard his wallett or look over his shoulder. Food for thought.
