I really reccommend that you include Amed in your travels. It is quiet and very beautiful. The Amed area is a winding coastline of small bays and fishing villages, which begins with the village of Amed itself...... followed on by Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Lean, Selang , Banyuning and Ass. All these places are considerd as Amed in the tourist books. The best beaches are at Lipah and Selang. These are both sandy beaches with fantastic snorkling straight from the beach. Selang is the quieter of the two.
The ocean is wonderful, usually calm and clear. It is filled morning and evening by thousands of brightly coloured fishing boats, bringing home their catch.
Village life carries on around you. You are carried back into simpler times. The local people are warm and friendly. There are no hawkers.. just one or two massage ladies on the beach.
There is a variety of accommodation to suit all pockets. There are several great restaurants.Restaurant Gede has good food and a great art gallery too.
