I am a bit of an expert of this, considering the amount that I usually consume! The ice they use is meant to be safe i.e. government regulated. I think most established places stick to this, but you just have to use your common sense. If a place looks a bit dodgy or unhygenic, just ask for no ice in your drink. They're used to this. It is a bit unappetizing to do this all the time though, as warm orange juice in that heat isn't really thirt quenching!
Have fun and enjoy all the cocktails available over there - there are millions to choose from! Just make sure you have an Arak Attack (local cocktail made with local spirit, arak) before you leave. Oh, and have another one for me.
