but I think there may be problems that way. 2 passport photos are required, you have to get a form from the consulate [easy to fill in] and return it with your photos, payment and passport and the process takes 3 working days. But you never know, I would imagine that VIPVoA already have an "understanding" with the customs and immigration people in Bali, so it could be worth a try.

In less than an hour I can drive to the Indonesian Consulate in Perth, but I would have to do that twice. For someone who lives too far from a consulate, perhaps the procedure could be done by registered mail.

The reason I know about this is that, on my recent trip, I asked the travel agent for a 30 day holiday and she inadvertently booked us for 31 days. When I realised her mistake, the flight bookings were so heavy that she couldn't get us back the day before and I wasn't prepared to accept her offer of coming back several days earlier. I checked the options for myself with the consulate [wasn't prepared to trust the agent] and prevailed upon her to pay and do the running around herself.

It's certainly a good feeling to have the 60 day visa stamped into your passport a couple of weeks before you even leave Australia.
