By January, wet season will have been underway long enough for the mosquitos to breed like blazes.
Nobody knows if Dengue will be as much of a problem this year as it was last year (apparently there's a five-year cycle of the number of reported cases), but it still could be a problem. Malaria is always a threat, too.
The severity of these problems are relative to different areas, and I'm not sure how badly Ubud was affected last year, or in previous years. But before you leave the windows open, you might want to get some accurate information about this.
Even if the threat of disease is not high, it's still a pain being covered in mozzie bites. At the very least, make sure you have a good net to cover your bed.
