but I like my air conditioning. Many people say it's not needed in Ubud.Even our friends who live their probably think we are soft but blimey it sure can get stinking hot.I am talking about going for a decent walk around town, doing a bit of shopping etc & dying to get back to your room to cool off because you feel soaked through to the skin hot ! Naturally a quick dip in the pool helps but airconditioning & an ice cold Bintang from your bar fridge does the world of good.
We have stayed in fan cooled & air conditioned rooms in Ubud & we all know what we prefer & it sure ain't a fan! Sorry but I can't help you re Candi Dasa because we've never stayed there but re other places I sure won't go without air conditioning in Lovina either but I'm a typical Aussie softie & we work hard for our family holidays & all like our comforts. You don't have to go to the expense of 5 star to get air conditioning, many 2 star places have it.
I suppose a lot may depend on how far your budget stretches. You mentioned the Tjampuhan at Ubud.Very very nice BUT I think if you want air cond, nice pool, fridge,TV as well as absolutely wonderful private courtyard & glorious marble outdoor bathroom. It is just the best & it so close to everything. We love it.We got a fantastic walk in rate.We really did some bargaining but it paid off. Ask for Dayu at reception if you go there & tell her you heard via BTF.
Also just in case you decide to go to Lovina we think the best place that is close to everything but far enough away to be quiet is the Rambutan cottages. You can get great rooms there that are either fan cooled or air conditioned.Heaps of reports on the forum.Believe me you will just love it there & will be treated like a VIP.
