I have said it once & will say it again... I am keen to read your thoughts, experiences etc...
I have had a major incident (for lack of a better word) with an older woman in Melb, married approx 12 years to her balinese husband & they have 2 gorgeous kids!
We were at a BBQ with many a mixed Indonesian/Aust or other couple, I had met this woman a number of times through a close friend of mine.
This particular day I started talking to the lady & made an effort to get to know her better & chat with her (having noticed alot of the wives were avoiding her!)
She asked me if I had ever stayed at this place or that, or eaten here or thyere or gone out clubbing at various venues & then asked my thoughts on them etc...
Honestly every comment I made about my observations, meal, accom, drinks, band whatever were WRONG, as far as she was concerned!
She even went on to say how she doubted I'd ever really been to the places & just was a rude b*tch.. This went on even about my husbands village & my Mother In Laws village in Bangli & their house & EVERYTHING!
Let's just say that all the other wives steered clear of her for a reason...
But not me, I retaliated with a mouthful, all were staring, but I did not care...
I made a loud enough comment to her about "how obviously things had changed & would seem different, I am clearly 15 years younger than her if not even more, the things, places & observations she had been making were from years ago, probably whilst I was still in a napyy & if they were of not so long ago, then clearly I would have been having a much younger perception of things & enjoying them, not seeing them as hassles like she had in her old age!"
Soon shut her up , needless to say, they left soon after & have not attended any get togethers since!
I know there is stuff that persons don't like in Bali, personally I enjoy the challenges I come head on with in Bali, makes me stronger!?
My holiday's are not as they were in my earlier years there as it was then I purely partied & shopped.
Now we go home usually for weddings, cremations, births & major temple ceremonies... If we have the monies to do so!!!
We have to save really hard for our time in Bali now & I cherish our time there with the family...
I believe most persons here love Bali, if they didn't they probably start holidaying elsewhere!
But this woman would not or could not accept that through my eyes I had seen parts of Bali that she had seen differently!?
Sampai Jumpa !
