I think you should define the word "good place". Especially because you are going to be there on New Year Eve. If you think of a party place on NYE, i think you got a wrong place. Better go to Kuta for that. Well, Ubud will be fine for NYE but you won't see happening party there as it is more suitable for relaxing, quite and remote place. But if you're looking for a nice place in Ubud, I can suggest you few place, depend on the budget (you also didn't mention anything about budget). Tegal Sari, Ketut Place is a nice place. But there are also big hotels that is nice: Champlung Sari, Maya Ubud. Or are you looking for homestay? well, there are a lot of choices in Ubud.......
