Hi Sal,
your 8 points made me smile, I guess for all of us there is something comparable to recognize in it.
Maybe the answer for your questions is:
It only works there, we cannot transport it to somewhere else, I'm talking about this different view on the things, the different rhythm of life, different people, different location, different smells, a challenge to all our senses.
It's the same all and everywhere, the wine you bring home from Greece – forget it, the cowboy-style leather jacket from Canada- was not out one time with it, the shirts from Brazil – a little bit too multicoloured for here.
All these things are perfect in holidays, but at the moment you get out of the plane back home, they are just part of a memory.
For me it is always this experience to dive into a completely different world, just to smell the air, to hear the different noises, by absorbing all this different things around me, I feel how I'm going to adapt this rhythm, I feel how my mind is changing and its always amazing me, how patient I suddenly can be.
Who cares, in this respect if the manicure was lousy or not, it was only worth to sit and enjoy the treatment, even when the result was poor, or ?
This is MY experience of holidays, by occupying with this different world, I'm relaxing, maybe I'm absorbing a bit of the balance of the harmony, at least I don't get mad if something takes longer than expected ;-)
Best regards
Thorsten
BTW: I enjoyed MY best Indonesian meal in Amsterdam – Netherlands
