I stayed at the Pondok Vienna a year and a half ago in April. I had an upstairs room (there are two wings of 2 stories, plus a wing of bamboo "huts" fronting the beach)that had a nice terrace(with chairs and table) and stone fronted entrance to the room. The room (AC) was large with a queen size and double bed inside with room for 2 more of the same! Nothing fancy, the mandi is large with an open air "window" overlooking the hills behind the hotel. I really liked the tables for two right next to the beach (very romantic in the evening with candles at each table). The food was okay, but it was the snorkeling that the attraction for me. Fish start appearing within 3 meters of the beach and of course fish/coral increase in size and diversity the further you go out. The best snorkeling that I encountered while in Bali. In the evening, locals congregate in front of the hotel to play volleyball, and this is fun to watch. Note:The black sand beach gets very hot by 10 am so bring a pair of flip-flops to wear to the water's edge.
