Don't listen to the knockers – imitation bottles can be excellent. Careful however as those sold in the streets are useless, whereas if you go to some fixed priced shops the bottles are unable to be distinguished from the real ones at a fraction of the cost. Shops I use for this are the shoe shop on opposite corner of Matahiri's in Kuta Square (Just where all those #**% time share sales congregate, and also a superette next to the old bounty ship.

The shops will happily open the boxes for you to proudly show them off. Walk from anyone who won't (Particularly as you only want the bottle).

By the way, my daughter tells me that the fixed price shops will show you bad copy, good copy and excellent copy ranging on how much you want to pay. Difference being smell will lasts from 10 minutes to a few hours. Obviously you are buying copies and can't compete with the real thing – but hey – you talking bottles to ‘con' everyone. GO FOR IT
