The purpose is to make aust clean from insects, and you have to get certain wood, old enough with carvings. There are plenty out there in bali, very young wood, they are very pretty, but when you get into aust, it will more to spray than the price itself. Black wood is good choice, mostly the wood from sulawesi, price more expensive, last longer and quality. I went to one artshop in ubud, you could feel the weight, and you can tell yourself. Don't remember the name of the shop, but it is not in traditional market where you could find cheap carvings. If you want quality and last longer, you can ask our driver, bjbali007@yahoo.com He only goes to quality and price not that expensive. Good luck with your holiday.
