I take others point regarding good quality wood ( mahogany- teak - really dark wood, not stained). Geneva has fixed prices and can give you an rough idea of what to pay.(eg. light wooden buddha head for the wall- $5 at geneva, retailing back here in Oz for $65). Sukawarti markets also good altho you will be bargaining- will also need to be aware of woodborers no matter where you go. I brought a ganesha staue, about 14 inches high - not teak- and paid 200,000R ($30 AUS) which I think was an OK price.
