Well my dear little four legged companion is sitting here on a chair beside me, wearing his new leather jacket! Bali would be more perfect if I could take "Dudley" with me.
As I have said before and will continue to do so- "i am homesick for Bali". When will this end.
Any way we are seriously thinking about investing in one of those new villas on Nusa Lembogan Island. Just waiting for a fax from Chris who owns Playgrounds resort.
It would be a good investment and hopefully pay itself off- eventually. In Bali we visited the ancient temple-1.200 years old. It had 305 steps downhill and was set amonst a beautiful stream and terraced rice paddies.. I will forever see those rice padies in my mind. They are absolutely beautiful. And a waterful that is breathing taking is there to view as well. I am not much into Temples-(seen one , seen em all I say) but my familiy has other beliefs so I just go with the flow. My apologies but I cant remebmer the name of this place(too may wines) but every driver should know where to take you- it was somewhere on the way to the volcano.Well ther was a group of school kids on a trip the day we went there- so being a swimmerand an avid daily walker and rather fitZ(so I thought), i decided to try and keep up with a bunch of primary school kids in walking back up these 305 steps to where our wise driver was waiting. I did keep up to them and they were amazed- even though I was probably not far of cardiac arrest. I was boiling hot and being a hairdresser- my hair was ringing wet and stuck flat to my head- but who cares- Its holiday time.
And the next day, my calf muscles were rather tender- especially when going down steps.
When we reached the volcano we had the most perfect view- as it was a very clear day. We had a coffe and took phots and could see the smoldering. The view was well worth the drive. To think that here before us lay land that was younger than us. Apparently at the valley near the lake at the volcano lies the real ancient villlage of Bali- but that is another story itself. Just be careful if you wantto buy any wood carvings fronm people in these parts of Bali. Years ago we also the same as we witnessed this time. If you see something that you like and reachan agreed price, they swiftly changre the carving for a cheaper quality one- and you wont know until you have recieved the goods- after u have paid for it. We saw this several times- we werent going to be fooled by this as they caught us unaware many years ago. You reach an agreed price and then they place the item intside a plastic bag and slip it to a person standing beside them- this takes place while you are getting your money. Then You are handed a bag after you pay- and it is a much cheaper quaality. So just be aware of these pranks. On our return to MBR. we stopped at the Monkey Forest. (10,000 rph per adult)
The monkeys were friendly- not at all aggressive. They stayed away from us but posed for beautiful photos. There was a a very newborn feeding from his mum and it was just a beautiful sight. These monkeys were so different to the agressive type at Uluwa Temple- where they jumped on us and tried to pinch our camera etc.
We also visited Sukawati Markets- there are 2 of these markets. Very cheap- depends on what you are looking for.
This would definitely be the cheapest place to buy bedspreads- but only if you are visiting there- don't make a trip just for this. Wood items are also very cheap. Crotcheted tableclothes are abundant- cant even buy the cotton at home let alone make them for the price that you will pay. Wesonally enjoy these markets and visit them on each trip.
well enogh for now,
Hopefully If I keep going at this rate, another year will have passed and it will be time for me to return to my second home.
stay tuned for more. G/Nite to ya all.
