Do you think that if you packed the bottles in your bag wrapt in bubble wrap, and put lots of other things inside the wrapping too like small metal objects, that the bottles maybe wouldn't "show up" on the x-ray machine in quite the same way? i dunno really, but just a thought.
I reckon if you put a $A10 note in with your passport etc when you go through the customs part, that you'll be okay. But don't take my word for it, as I didn't need to do that in the end on my recent trip. But I DID have the note ready just in case there were the dreaded chalked "X" marks on my bags!
