This is purely about restaurants and no mention whatsoever of towels. In the end I dont believe they are a huge issue.
Ku De Ta in Seminyak
What can you say about this place which would convey the atmosphere, the food and service. Went twice, roughly about $160 each time. A place where you can dress up or go casual. This service is the best I have ever had, and all done with that famous smile. The food is just simply fabulous and rivals many of Sydney's places, in fact I would say it would go beyond even the top places. A bit pricey but for that special occasion or indulgence you cannot go past it.
Poppies - Kuta
Great satay and pleasant place, went for dinner and lunch. Great service and here you can get a driver for the day which we did. Also checked out the Poppies bungalows and was very surprised at how nice they were.
Santika Villas Restaurant - Seminyak (731149)
Overlooking the ocean - great food and wine - less expensive than Ku De Ta but similar in all aspects. Only two other diners and they drive you home free. Checked out their accommodation and was great - maybe next visit.
Kafe Warisan - Seminyak (731175)
Great French food and atmosphere. Around $15 per main and worth it. Pleasant staff who go beyond duty to serve you - quite amazing and very impressed with the place.
Melasti Seafood - Jimbaran Bay
On the beach amongst at least a hundred other seafood places. Was very disappointed with this place. A little bit on the tourist angle for me but the staff were very happy and accommodating. The seafood was not very good at all. I would try any of the other hundred before going back to the Melasti. Benifit is that they drive you both ways for nothing. Great views over the ocean to the fishing boats in the distance.
Pantarei - Seminyak - 732567
Modern Greek and Mediterranean - great decor with great service. Not that expensive and again with great service. A nice romantic place. Try it.
Some of the places up from the Padma in Legian were good and cheap food with well priced Bintangs. We mainly ate near the Padma - was very impressed with Poppies for a bit of nostigala.
See there was not a mention of a towel at all. Will finish my last JBR tomorrow with the pros and cons of the trip. Happily there were many more positives to negatives.
Only comment are people who totally ignore the waiting staff and contiune talking and do not acknowledge them. I know this happens accross the world (which is not excuse) but what dumbfounds me is how you could ignore such cheerful and great service. Once at Kafe Warisan I had to hold back my wife from smacking this group of people who were so rude. Mind you I was standing in line to do the same. Mind you it is their loss and they looked grumpy anyway.
I enjoyed greatly talking to as many people as I could and you could always get a great conversation at a restruant.
Anyway hope this helps at least a little bit - my pick of the bunch, Ku De Ta.
Till next time.
