In 8 previous trips we were concerned about the security of our money and took TC's. On our 2002 trip, a number of places refused to accept TC's - including Kodak shops and PT Central Kuta outlets. As well as paying commission when purchasing, TC's also have an inferior exchange rate. Added to this the hassle of producing your passport every time you wish to cash one.
On our most recent trip several weeks ago, we took cash and had no problems.
