REVLON PRODUCTS:
As per usuual I headed into Matahari Department Store in Kuta Square to stock up on Revlon Products. I also bought some at Ramayana in Denpasar, and they had a special at the time whereby if you spent 350,000rp on their products, you got a free satin nightie. And I think 500,000rp worth got you a matching short dressing gown to go with it.
All up I spent approx $AUD73 in the 2 stores, for products worth AUD340 back home!
Here are some of the prices:-
- Eterna 27+ 24 hour repair fluid (moisturizer) - 90,000rp
- Love Pat moisturising pressed powder(tawny beige) - 35,000rp (it's about $A26 here!)- wish I'd bought more than 3 of them!
- Big brush waterproof mascara(black) - 35,000rp _ Yes that price is correct!
- Lash Finder lengthening Mascara (black) - 70,000rp
- Smooth on blush compact with brush (sandalwood beige) -65,000rp
- Whitening make-up powder compact(with builtin sunscreen ) - 75,000rp
- Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner & Colorstay lipstick wand - I haven't got the price on the docket but from memory they were both around 60,000rp, which is certainly much cheaper than in Oz.
- 15ml Crystalline fingernail polish - 40,000rp from memory
I didn't buy any of the Colorstay Foundation, but my friend did, and it was 90,000rp, so heaps cheaper than in Oz where it's around $33.
You don't get the full colour range that we have here, but I usually find a colour that's close to what I use.

This shop is adjacent to the Kuta Art Markets, in the alley that leads to the beach. It's between an upmarket dress shop on the corner, and the 2 jewellery shops.
This is a fixed price shop that sells a lot of aromatherapy oils, massage oils, soaps and floating candles. Whilst it's cheaper to buy the candles at Geneva, I visited to buy some of the aromatherapy oil which my friend had bought on a previous trip.
I particularly wanted the Rose and Freangipani oils, but they were out of stock on the 2 occasions I went there. In the end, I settled for "Champaka" which they told me was their "Bali" perfume. And everytime I burn it, it reminds me of the spa villa at the Dynasty Hotel.
There were other perfumes such as : Night Queen, Sandalwood, Lotus, Bergamot, Lavender & Musk.
The aromatherapy oils cost 32,000rp for a reasonable sized botle (no weight shown on it, but would guess about 35mls).These perfumes were also available in massage oils, and offerred in various packages, along with incense sticks, soaps etc.
I also bought some frangipani scented cakes of soap, advertised as being made from pure native palm & frangipani essential oils for 7,500rp per unit.
JAMU Product: BOKASHI RUB OIL
My friend Judd took a tumble on the gravely concrete pad near the helipad on Tuban Beach. Her knees, palms and toes were all grazed badly and bleeding profusely when she came back to the Dynasty Hotel.Rosie, our beach lady who plaits hair and does nails saw Judd and offered to clean it up for her with one of the local products.
By next morning, we were all amazed at how well it was healing, and it continued to improve dramatically with no signs of infection.
The product that had been used was called Minyak Oles Bokashi or Bokashi Rub Oil. It is part of a range of products made under the Jamu brand.
"Jamu" is evidently a way of healing all sorts of ailments by using traditional plants and herbs. I'm sure Barong Naga can tell us more about this interesting subject.
According to Rosie, this rub oil can also be used on joint pains & arthritis by rubbing some on to the skin, as well as 2 drops in water for Bali Belly!
We bought some to bring home with us for 10,000rp for the 10 ml bottle,at a local shop on the outskirts of Denpasar.
The ingredients as shown on the packet are as follows:Oleum (oil) cocos 60%, cajuputi 4%, citronellae 4%, foeniculum 2%, eugenol 4%, cinnamomi 2%, and other matters. "Fermented oil of spice and medicinal plants through effective micro-organisms (EM) Technology".
SILVER CLOVE BALM:
I bought another tin of this medicated balm whilst in Bali, the 20 gram tin cost 20,000rp at the local supermarket. I believe the same product costs around $A15-17 here?
The ingredients are: Clove Oil 5.5%, Camphor 24.5% Menthol 8.4%, Cajuput Oil 9.5%, & Peppermint Oil 15%. This is advertised as an ointment for relieving lumbago, muscular & joint aches, sprains, insect bites & contusion.
I have used it when I've had muscular pain, and found it to be quite effective, and I rather like the smell of it. I guess it's similar to Tiger Balm and other products like Deep Heat.
