Surf label shops etc are usually way down on my shopping list, but when you have a 15 yr old daughter, well you gotta do the right thing, and check these out as well.
So here are some places and prices for all you Roxy/ Billabong/ RipCurl/ Mambo nuts.

The above details are from the cards & customer feedback forms I picked up from there. There are actually 2 shops, but all under the one huge Surf Factory Outlet sign, so not really sure if they are owned separately or not. Perhaps someone else may know.
My daughter bought a couple of itmes from each shop, prices as follows:
- RipCurl Girl top - 110,000rp
- Aztec Rose velour beach towel - 120,000rp
- ROXY stickers, sheet of 8 - 1000rp per sheet
- RUSTY & RIPCURL tops for 30-50,000 each
BASEMENT - surf factory shop - Cnr Jalan Legian & Rum Jungle Rd.
This used to be a normal priced surf shop, but has had a change of name and stocks a range of discounted gear.
Good shopping to be had here, probably more guys stuff than girls though.

PLANET SURF: Kuta Galeria 3-6 Jl Patih Jelantik, Kuta

This shop proved to be a hit with daughter too. There are 2 floors, so ensure you check out the top floor where they stock bags, school bags, CD holders, thongs, belts etc.
Some prices from here:
- Insight off the shoulder striped top - 179,000rp
- Billabong fold-up CD holder (holds 18) - 115,000rp
- Paul Frank thongs - 90,000rp
- ROXY corduroy/embroidered handbag - 168,000rp (the same item was 234,000 in a Kuta Square surf shop)
There were also Billabong shoulder school bags for 135,000rp($A20!) and I did think that their prices were better here than in some of the Legian Surf shops.
There was another surf shop in Kuta Galeria called Kuta Surf Factory Outlet, but most of the stock was for guys.
The Kuta Galeria is only about 1/6th tenanted at present, and there were some other discount shops there too, one called "Aloha Brands".
Also located there is deli called Cherry Pie Deli and Cafe, and we can vouch for the yummy cookies they sell, but didn't try any of the danish pastries and other wonderful looking cakes and gateaus.
A further day was spent traipsing from one end of Legian Road/Melasti St cnr to Bemo Corner, visiting just about every surf shop there, plus the Body & Soul Outlets, where we were very impressed with the cheap prices.
This year we found that the prices of surf clothing were much cheaper than in Perth, due we think to the very good exchange rate we were getting - between 6350 to 6560rp to the $A1. In 2003, the prices were slightly cheaper, but in 2002, it was much the same as in Australia.
Prices of some items of clothing:
- Billabong jeans with BILLABONG across the back of them - 395,000rp This equated to $A60.75, and they cost $99.95 in Oz.
- ROXY belt - 90,000rp
- BILLABONG pink leather cuff - 90,000rp
- ROXY "grafitti" singlet top (brown/blue) - 140,000rp
- Billabong suede wallet- 135,000rp
- SURFER GIRL keyring - 23,000rp
- BODY & SOUL pink shirred top - 40,000rp
- ROXY pink cargos - 290,000rp
- BILLABONG "army" bag - 210,000 (These were priced at $A50 at the Perth Airport shop, and equated to $32AUD in Bali)
- BILLABONG striped B & W wide headband - 75,000rp
- MAMBO brightly coloured LOUD shirts - 340,000rp ( These are priced at $95 here, but only $52-54 in Bali!!)Unfortunately, I could not find any sizes larger than "L" in the 4 shops which I looked in,so hubby missed out.
So now daughter is saving hard from her part-time weekend job for next year's trip to Bali, where most of her money no doubt will be spent in the above shops.
