Why don't you try the Adhi Dharma Hotel (as distinct from the Adhi Dharma cottages)? It is very central, between Kuta and Legian, and very, very good value 2 stars. Not on the beach though. The Anneka is on the beach rd and is probably also 2 star and maybe a bit closer to Kuta central. The Puri Raja is on the beach, pleasant 2 star, no night life and a quieter end of Legian.
Probably give the Jayakarta a miss as it is a bit further out again.
