I am very surprised that you could not find some
information in the archives - I know I have put in
quite a few on the LBH over the past few months.
So here is copies of some information I have posted
previously on the LBH -

We had in April (with the kids) Deluxe Villa 5B & 5C
In June (just wife and I) we had Deluxe Villa again, this time we
got 6B (Villa 5 was gutted being reno'd).
We were for April trip going to have Superiour Villa 4A&B, yet we
liked the idea of interconnecting, so went for a Deluxe.

We have stayed at the Padma in 1998, and at the LBH in April
and again a week back.
It would be wrong to compare based on rating level and price.
The Padma is bigger - pool is much bigger - and yes it is 5 star.
It therefore is more expensive as well.
The room we had was very nice - no problems nor complaints at all.
I would recommend the Padma to anyone AA++
As for the LBH - it is only a 4 star (I think) yet we found it
to be a little more personal that the Padma.
There is 2 pools - one with a swim up bar.
The grounds are immaculate.
The one thing I would recommend people with kids is the LBH
due to the pools having shade (the only shade at the Padma is
sitting at the pool bar from lunch time on).
We chose the LBH for our April trip as we had 2 of our 3 kids (B13 & G12)
on that trip. We went back again just recently for a week with 2
friends. They picked the LBH, so we stayed there again - to make it
easy to spend time with them (we had one week - they 2 weeks).
Food - we had breakfasts at both - Padma had more, yet LBH had a
very good selection. We usually don't eat at the hotels we stay at
(other than breakfast), yet did have pizza by the pool 1 day at
the LBH (too lasy to go for a lunch walk that day). We did have
a dinner at the Padma, they had the Kecak dance on in their outside
theatre (not sure if it is still there ??) - it was a smorgasboard,
very yummy - ate far too much.
The Padma does have an onsite tour desk,if you need it.
Staff - friendly at both for us - no problems with either.
The LBH is currently going through a revamp. They are gutting
villas and doing full reno's. The new reception should be finished
sometime very soon.
Note - we had a Superiour Villa at the LBH both times.
We found them very clean and well maintained.
If you decide on the LBH - and you like a big room - get a villa.
I would suggest for your family group (again with regards to the LBH),
that you get either a Superiour Villa which is 2 sep units - like you
would have say villa 4A & 4B (they have 2 sep units with there
own entrance under the one roof), or the Deluxe Villa which is 3 sep
units, yet they are interconnecting.
The block hotel section is up near the car park - rooms a bit small
for our lot but still ok - our friends (sisters)were happy with their
room there.
So, it gets back to your budget and type of hotel ~
cheaper, smaller yet clean and tidy
bit more expensive, bigger, yet still clean and tidy.
I hope this helps.

We got back just last week (Friday)
Stayed at LBH for 5 nights.
We got 2 x Deluxe Villa's (it was No. 5b & 5c)
We took 2 of our 3 kids (No. 1 had no interest, he must be sick)
B-13 & G-12
They were interconnecting rooms (1 x double & 1 x twin)
The kids had one room, us the other.
This was trip no. 3 for us - the kids 1st O.S.
It is ok for teenagers, actually I would say it was good for all ages,
yet depending on what you like. I thought it was a bit quiet, yet that
was good for this trip. There was lots of Germans and Japanese staying. The small shop (photo processing, post cards, stamps, some
personal items etc), had lots of German novels on the floor, so it
must be a usual haunt for the Germans.
Grounds were well kept - it is a very nice hotel - very Bali traditional
looking with the thatched roof bungalows.
Nice breakfast (was included in our package) and only ate one night
at the rest. We prefer to try rest's outside hotels.
You have 2 swimming pools - one with swim up bar.
My only complaint was that the bar service (as in someone being there at the bar)
finished up at 5pm (happy hour !!), yet they leave a phone at the bar
so you can call up service and they bring it over. There was a group
of 6 early 20's staying, at at 5pm on the first day ordered up 18 cocktails ! (gone in 60 sec !)
The boss aparently did not like the boozing that went on in the evenings
as the holidayers kept splashing water over the bar and flooding the floor
on the bar side.
As for the rooms, they were nice - I would call them 3-1/2 star.
As for the beach, you can hire surfboards from the hotel, they are
near the other pool. The suft looked ok to me - not a surfer myself
yet there was people out there.
As for driving ..... DON'T !
I drove in Bali (1st trip) back in '84 - that was bad enough.
Did not drive in last trip '98 - happy to lave this to someone else.
There is NO WAY I would drive in Bali now.
The best thing to do is hire a driver and guide for day trips.
If you have booked your trip with transfers, you can organize this
with the transfer company when you get there. Don't organize it before
you go as it will cost you more.
On our 1st, 2nd and last trip and this recent trip, I went through
Bali Travel Service. You can call them on + 62 361 704960
or if your there, just 704960
They will arrange a Tour Guide and driver, and ask you what you would
like to see, or also give you some recommended tour ideas.
We had Puja last time and this recent time - he is GREAT !
He will arrange everything for you. He has a great knowledge of Bali
and speaks very good english. His mobile No. is + 62 81 338 743 725
or if you call him there, its just 081 338 743 725
You can also get info on tours - just send an e-mail and get a brochure sent:
info@baliinisghttours.com
I hope this helps you.

That will prob do.
