One of my funniest story takes me back quite a few years ago to when our teenage son was only about 6 or 7 years old.He was a tall skinny little kid( still is)with very pale skin & with pretty fair hair. One of the ladies in Monkey Forest at Ubud " fell in love with him" & wanted to " buy him" !
I know it was probably a bit of a joke but she said she wanted to " buy him" from us - there & then ,she wanted a done deal & didn't want to let go of him !
Ok,let's be straight - as parents if we have a warped sense of humour & bring up our kids that way ,we make all sorts of sick jokes to our kids & they know NOT to believe us because of the type of family they have been bought up with. For interest sake we have an older daughter who is 3 years older than her brother - all older sisters hate their brothers & wished they'd never been born ( fact accepted in our family) Daughter was about 10 at the time ,thinks it's a huge laugh that this lady wants to buy her brother & that she may be rid of him for good.
Story ended up with our son just about pooping himself cause he really honestly believed this lady was serious, husband joking around with lady for a price ( to tease son - who'd been a horror that day, sister in 7th heaven).Son is hanging onto me for dear life,I was going purple almost with his tight grip ! He's crying Mummy please don't let Daddy sell me ! Needless to say he is still here with us <LOL>
Long story cut short but I was heavily involved with his school at the time & all his teachers & the Principal were close personal friends of our family who knew us all very well - including what a darn horror my son could be at times .When they heard the story they wanted to know WHY he come he had come back with us ? I told them it was a case of after the lady would have had him for 5 minutes that she wouldn't have been able to stand him & that we would have to pay her back a lot more money to get him back. The Balinese woman would have been ablke to make money both ways virtually <LOL>.
I suppose you had to be there.I sure know my dear mate Barong Naga will get a laugh out of this one.Not sure if I'd ever told him this story. He & his family know our son very well & he is also quite a stirrer with his own sons with his various jokes & stories.
I hope no one takes offense at this one - it's a light hearted BUt I swaerit did really happen.Ask our son, even after all these years he clearly remembers this lady that wanted to buy him.he still says he was Glad that his Mum loved him & that he had clkeaned his room before he left home.
