I am "homesick" for beautiful Bali!
Nusa Lembogan was a lovely quiet place to visit for a few nights after the much loved busy Legian and Kuta areas. We took some clothing& surfboards and locked our Suite at MBR and handed our key in at Reception. We only need transport to N.L so booked fares with Bounty Cruises. Adults were $30 Us for adults and half price for children. The Bounty was a Big Cat and took approx one hour to reach the island. Tea, Coffee, Juice and biscuits were served on board.
When we arrived at N.L a smaller bounty boat then transferred us from the plontoon to the island. We had not booked accomadation, coconuts resort was fully booked(beautiful place but we were sorta glad as the price was a little expensive for us- being that we had already paid for 25 nights at MBR and were 2 families of 4.
We walked past coconuts and and found Playgrounds resort. Here the 8 of us booked the entire top floor for 500,000 rph for ezach night. Very comfortable and affordable accomadation. There is much cheaper accomadation to be found but we liked this place. A restaurant next door. we could lie in our beds at night- doors open(no mozzies) and watch the fishing boats with theuir tinkering lights and the village people busy at work. The tide was at its lowest from 7pm onwards and the beach area came to life with people fetching in seaweed- of many different colours. They told us that it was sold for cosmetics. Men and young children were catching worms to be used for fishing bait. Soil was being unloaded from some boats and was carried up the hill ready to be used building the new villas. Apparently soil has to be sent by boat To N.L from Bali, rather than take sand from the beach. areas. While on N.L island, no one asked us to buy from them. The only peaople who approached us was to rent motorbikes for touring around the island. This cost was 50,000 rph for 2 hours and well worth it. Be careful not to damage the bikes.Chris(an Aussie) owns Playgrounds resort. He lives at Caloundra on Queensland's sunshine coast. He was once the world champion tandem surfboard rider. Chris told us to be careful with the bikes and advised to hire a driver(rider )to show us the way. 2 persons can travel on the one bike. The prices are fixed- no bargaining.
We will definitely plan a longer stay on Nusa Lembogan Island next year- and book accomadation from this end We had a great time surfing(not me). Snorkelling was beautiful- coloured fish and corals- Chris loaned us the gear. On the way homew, we had to wait on the Bounty's plontoon for an hour before leaving, and were allowed to use the water slide for free. Tea and coffe was also free of charge.
Back to Bali(our second home.
Sopping in General: i had a knee lenght leather jacket- zip up, mandarin collar made in Poppies II for $110.00. I also had a leather doggie coat made for my very spoilt little four legged companion. I had taken one a flanel one from home for them to copy. I also had a leather bag and a college satchel(bag) copied and made from leather. I am very pleased with them all.My brother had a favourite wallet made as well- pattern taken from his very well worn old wallet.
I stocked up on Revelon cosmetics- which i bought atthe Bali Galleria.(Matahari) It was so cheap- and when i went to pay for it, i was told that there was a further 10% discount. I bought 2 liquid foundations, a creame to powder foundation in a cute compact, cleanser, toner, 2 moisturisers , 2 lipstics, and a eyeshadow compact for $74. (sorry to bore the guys). What a bargain- then of course i had to buy a L.V cosmetic case to put it in.- Then I needed some L.V shoes, ahandbag, sunglasses and watch(all L.V) to look pretty claassy(lol) for my stroll around Myers back home. The accessiories were bought at stalls and on the beach.Bali is truley a shoppers paradise.
On our travels we also purchase four big chairs- (look like hands- with the fingers and thum as the backs and sides and these are being shipped back to Australia for us. They cost aprox $25 each in Bali and will total to aprox $100 each when they arrive here- shipping, fumigation, gst and taxes all included.
Any way thats enough for now. This is going to take weeks to tell You's heps more. I luv Bali, Miss Bali and can't wait til next year. Unfortunately its back to the grindstone here to save for next year.
Hope i didnt bore you too much.
Cheers
