Since 99' I have been a regular solo traveler to Bali. I have no doubt that you will have a fantastic time when you bring along an open mind and a postive attitude. Not a need in Bali to hide your heritage. Most who meet me know where I'm from and I represent my country well. The only problems I have encountered are from other tourists who are itching for a political argument and all I want is just to enjoy my bintang.
Bring along an extra bag and pack it with clothing, toys, towels, bags, baby clothes, and educational materials for kids. Bras are especially appreciated by all the ladies on the beach and in the villages.
Tegal Sari is a lovely place I'm sure you will enjoy the peace and simplicity there. If you your there on a Sat. night Exiles is the place for good music and an interesting mixed crowd.
For a day trip I personally would choose rafting. I so enjoy it for the scenery and antics of the guides.
If you get tried of unwanted attention from the local boys, stop smiling and give them your best snobby look like your in a big hurry to get somewhere. A real turn off works all the time, well not for me because I can't stop smiling when I'm in Bali. Have a great time looking forward to your JBR.
